Women’s boxing will be re-introduced to the Olympics in 2012 – the first time since 1904
Amateur boxers are required to have headgear and a sleeveless shirt in the color of their corner

Amateur boxing has a point scoring system that measures the number of clean blows landed rather than physical damage
Competitors wear protective headgear and gloves with a white strip across the knuckle. A punch is considered a scoring punch only when the boxers connect with the white portion of the gloves

Boxing Venue

Competition Venue:

Boxers will put their talent on show on the lawns of Marrara Indoor Stadium, centrally located at the Marrara Sporting Complex. The custom built outdoor arena is a crowd favourite, offering spectators the opportunity to relax on the lawns or take seat in the grandstand and watch all the action unfold. Boxers will have access to secure competitor change rooms and warm up areas.

Transport to Venue:

Athletes will be able to access free of charge transport to Arafura Central via the Arafura Games Bus Service which will operate between accommodation houses and Games venues. A direct service between city accommodation and Arafura Central would be the most suitable service for those competing in the Boxing tournament.
