Athletics Venue

Competition Venue:

The Athletics Track and Field competition will be held at the picturesque Arafura Stadium, centrally located at the Marrara Sporting Complex. This facility is currently undergoing a transformation to be completed in time for the 2011 Arafura Games! The stadium redevelopment will include: -

  • Resurfacing the athletics track;
  • Remediating the infield surface;
  • Brand new field facilities including new throwing circles, hammer cage and high jump;
  • Upgrading lighting, communication pits and conduits to evening competition;
  • Upgrades to Athletics equipment and storage area; and;
  • New event control and management rooms.

Arafura Stadium is fully accessible and will operate a canteen for the entirety of the athletics competition.

The Half Marathon will be held at East Point Reserve.  For a map of the course, please click here for Part A and here for Part B.

Training Venue:

Arafura Stadium will be available for training in the lead up to, and during the Games, however is not available during competition sessions. Those athletes and teams wishing to train should contact Athletics NT to confirm appropriate training times and to book lanes.

Transport to Venue:

Athletes will be able to access free of charge transport to the venue via the Arafura Games Bus Service which will operate between accommodation houses and Games venues.
